NAHARLAGUN, Oct 3: In a major breakthrough, Naharlagun Police arrested a man accused of duping several unemployed youths by taking money on the pretext of providing them jobs in various private sectors.
The accused, identified as. Zarli Gongo (40),a resident of Pani Muri village under Upper Subansiri district, has been operating a fake firm under the name “Subansiri Private Security Service and Job Placement Agency” at Model Village, Naharlagun.
According to police sources, between July and August 2025, Gongo lured job aspirants with false promises of employment as gunmen, storekeepers, security guards, and supervisors, collecting amounts ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 through both cash and online transactions.
Following multiple complaints, a case was registered under Naharlagun PS Case No. 134/25 U/S 318(3) BNS. The accused initially went absconding but was successfully tracked down and arrested from the Jote area by a team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, OC PS Naharlagun, with the assistance of SI Tapu Sarke and personnel from Chimpu Police Station.
Superintendent of Police, ICR, Jummar Basar, lauded the efforts of the police team and issued a stern warning to the public — particularly unemployed youths — to remain cautious against fraudulent job offers. “Do not fall prey to such scams. Focus on hard work, sincerity, and dedication to achieve your employment goals,” he advised.
The police have urged anyone who might have been defrauded by the accused to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
