PASIGHAT, May 21: Six drug peddlers were arrested in two NDPS cases registered in East Siang district on Friday, informed SP Sumit Kumar Jha.
In a day long operation, raids at multiple locations were carried under the supervision of OC Pasighat O Gao and large quantity of contraband suspected to be brown sugar was seized. Other incriminating evidences were also suggestive of the fact that those arrested were involved in peddling activities.
We could go three levels up in the supply chain in today's investigation, added SP Jha.
Specific actionable inputs were provided continuously since last few days by WASE mothers and other sources regarding illegal activities related to drugs. The SP appreciated the officers and personnel from 5th IRBn for their active support.
Meanwhile the SP further informed that information was received on Friday afternoon that there was an organized gambling activity going on since few days in a house near Power House in High Region Area, Pasighat.
Accordingly the place was raided and many persons were found playing cards with poker chips and cash. Eight persons including five women and three men were apprehended from the spot.
Rs 50,280 in cash, multiple decks of playing cards and poker chips have been seized. Pasighat PS Case No 60/22 has been registered under the relevant sections of law and all of them have been arrested.
