Doimara, Nov 11: The first-ever three-day Eaglenest Butterfly Festival 2024 was held at Doimara in West Kameng district. Organized by Nature’s Friendship Rupa and Mahila Shakti Kendra of Balipara, with support from the Department of Tourism and the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the event celebrated the role of butterflies in the ecosystem.
The festival included butterfly and bird walks in the Doimara and Khellong areas, along with discussions highlighting the importance of butterflies in maintaining ecological balance and their conservation.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest D.K. Thongdok(former minister), in the presence of Guest of Honour Millo Tassar (IFS), Conservator of Forest, and Tracy Thongdok, District Tourism Officer of West Kameng. Participants from Tezpur University, Rangapara College, Balipara College, PRI members, and senior residents from Doimara, Kamengbari, and Rupa were also in attendance.
The festival concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants and supporting departments (DIPRO)
