PASIGHAT, Feb 23: Preparations are afoot at Giidii Notko, Pasighat for central celebration of Ali-Aye Ligang Festival of Misings being organized by Ali-Aye Ligang Pasighat Central Celebration Committee (AALPCCC) onFebruary 25-26 next.

This is as part of the greater unification among Adis of Arunachal living across the valleys and foothills of Siang, Dibang, Namsai and Lohit districts and Misings of Assam living across the flood plains of Brahmaputra in northern part of Assam through cultural exchanges who are said to be descendents of the same stock.

‘Solung of Adis is observed at Assam, while Ali-Aye Ligang of Misings is also observed in Arunachal,’ said Okom Yosung, President, AALPCCC cum Secretary General, Adi Mising Baane Kebang.

During the mega event various cultural troupes of both communities will take part. Exhibition stalls, food corners beside Miss Ligang contest will be the main attraction of the two day celebration.

‘We are not leaving any stone unturned to make the ensuing event successful as this is the first such mega event celebration of Ali-Aye Ligang here at Pasighat which I think will pave way for greater unification and brotherhood of Adis and Misings,’ said Daniel Mibang.

According to sources, Chief Secretary, Shakuntala D Gamlin will grace the inaugural day as Chief Guest.

Ali- Aye-Ligang is an agriculture-based festival of the Misings celebrated on the first Wednesday of ‘Fagun’ (between January and February) month every year. The literal meaning of Ali- Aye-Ligang stands for first sowing of roots and fruits.
