LONGDING, Jan 5: In a significant operation under ‘Operation Dawn’ against drug trafficking and abuse, the Longding District Police conducted a series of searches on January 4 last, leading to the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs, cash, and related materials. The operation underscores the police's commitment to combating the drug menace in the region.
The crackdown began around 5:30 PM when reliable intelligence indicated that an individual in Jibo Colony was in possession of illegal substances and involved in drug peddling. Acting on the information, a team led by Inspector Tukut Konia, Officer-in-Charge of Poilce Station Longding, and supported by ADC cum Executive Magistrate M. Tato, along with L/Ct Nyeman Wangpan, L/Ct M. Boham, and the PS ready party, conducted a search at the residence of Wangphai Pansa. Following the procedures outlined under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the team uncovered 11.74 grams of suspected heroin, 345 grams of suspected cannabis, Indian currency totaling ₹16,080, and other related materials.
During spot questioning, the accused provided leads to the residences of two women, Ngamkhow Wangsa and Anon Pansa, in Pongchau village. A subsequent search of Anon Pansa's home revealed two green soap cases containing 22.90 grams of suspected brown sugar and ₹81,860 in cash.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the seizure are Wangphai Pansa (32) from Nginu village, Mrs. Anon Pansa (28) from Pongchau village and Mrs Ngamkhow Wangsa (42)from Pongchau village.
