LONGDING, Sep 12: After five months of investigation, Longding police arrested a rape accused Tajem Pansang  on September 9 last.
Longding police  on February 28 earlier this year, received a complaint that one Tajem Pansang of Chopnu village kidnapped a 13-year-old minor from her school and took her to Assam. The accused then allegedly committed rape and then fled towards Nagaland. It was learned that he intended to join a UG outfit after the incident. Accordingly,a FIR U/S- 366 (A) IPC and 6/8 POCSO were registered and the investigation was started.
The Longding Police worked tirelessly to identify his whereabouts through human and technical intelligence and  on 11th September  based on a highly reliable input from sources that the accused was recently seen near Chopnu village, a Police team led by SDPO and OC PS Kanubari raided the location.The team after combing the area for 4 hours was able to apprehend the accused person. He was brought to PS Kanubari and later confessed to his crime after interrogation.
The accused is found to be involved in another rape case involving two minors in 2014 and a burglary case in 2013.
