WAKRO, Nov 7: The first consultative meeting for Makar Sankranti Parsuram Kund Festival 2023, was held at Wakro today. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Lohit, Shashvat Saurabh and attended by public leaders, panchayat leaders, Head of Offices and other stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC proposed the name be Makar Sankranti Parsuram Kund Festival instead of "Mela" as the latter connotes more to entertainment than to pilgrimage. The house unanimously agreed to the proposal.

Even with COVID restrictions around 20,000 tourists visited Parsuram Kund earlier this year and in 2023 the number is expected to touch around 1 lakh. DC Saurabh said that all efforts will be made by the district administration to make the festival a grand success.
