TEZU, Mar 19: The long-unresolved land dispute issue between Lohit and Changlang districts has seen the first signs of breakthrough following an emergency meeting convened by the Lohit District Administration wherein the stakeholders from both Singpho and Mishmi communities participated.
The meeting was held in Khatan village in Lohit under supervision of EAC Wakro Circle and attended by the representatives of Cultural & Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM), Mishmi Welfare Society (MWS), All Mishmi Students’ Union (AMSU) and Singpho Development Society (SDS), ADC Miao, Nampong/Jairampur, DFO, RF Diyun and LRSO officials of Changlang district. After a threadbare discussion the team made a joint survey of the traditional boundary that awaits an official demarcation. “The outstanding border issues since the creation of the district have remained unresolved due to which petty incidents take place causing law and order problems. The border areas lack a natural boundary leading to ambiguity,” one of the officials on condition of anonymity disclosed. Meanwhile, the dispute relating to the southern parts of Tilangyong and Tumba has remained unsolved due to an indistinct and hazy border. The joint team has agreed to deal with the issue in the next sitting, sources added.

After a proper settlement of the border issue and demarcation, a detailed report will be submitted to the state government for drawing a complete map of Lohit, DLRSO Lohit informed.
