TEZU, Jul 19:The people of Tezu town have been bearing the brunt of power shortage due to load shedding even as the temperatures are soaring.
“In the peak hours, power suddenly goes down causing much inconvenience and putting people to insurmountable difficulties”, laments a consumer.
“Increasing temperatures make us sleepless, at least good voltage could have brought relief but when can we expect an improved power scenario?”, questions another.
The constant load shedding has irked citizens most. Schools, business establishments, government offices and hospitals too bear the brunt of the power outings.
When asked about the reason for the load shedding, Assistant Engineer, Tezu Sub – Division, J Chai, said that owing to damage to the 2.5 KV transformer, load shedding had to be resorted to.
“We have already sent the transformer to Tinsukia (Assam) for repairing and efforts are on to bring it back at the earliest. The transformer is too old to support the grid line. The process of procurement of new transformer along with switchyard are also in full swing and hope within a few months entire system would be updated facilitating uninterrupted power supply”, she assured.
