Namsai, Jul 26: A lift water supply project featured with solar powered treatment plant was inaugurated today by Mihin Anku, Circle Officer Namsai in presence of AE, PHED Namsai Bhupen Khamyang and others.
Located in Kosambi (Kasik-||) village Namsai, the lift water supply plant was built under Jal Jeevan Mission sanctioned in the year 2022 and executed by Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Namsai with a functional household tap connection (FHTC) coverage capacity of 57 households. 
The unit was officially handed over to the Village Water & Sanitation Committee (VWSC), Kasik-II for its operation and maintenance work.
CO, Namsai congratulated the public on the occasion and apprised that the main logic behind constituting the VWSC is to take up the responsibility of all minor maintenance work to be done. She emphasised that considerable efforts should be made to maintain the unit in order to ensure long-term sustainability of the water supply system in the village. She further requested the Panchayati Raj members to work in convergence with the line departments for planning and execution of all developmental works.
AE, B. Khamyang urged the members of the committee to effectively carry out the role of VWSC and collect maintenance charge from every household and also to ensure its proper utilization towards operation & maintenance expenditure of water supply facilities. Explaining about JJM and  its objectives, he said that JJM is a community managed program facilitating rural communities to lead the planning, management, operation and maintenance of village water supply systems.
JE, PHED sought necessary support from the public for successful implementation of schemes to make it sustainable.  A brief deliberation on Swach Bharat Mission was held after the inauguration program.  The team inspected the work being done under SBM. 6 numbers of solid waste pits have been constructed in the village.
