LONGDING, Mar 15: Minister, Health & FW etc. Alo Libang today inaugurated the NERCORMP supported Multipurpose Common Facility Centre (CFC) at Senua village in Longding district on the eve of Oriah festival.
The CFC has been implemented by NERCORMP through the NaRMGs of the village with funding from the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DoNER. The project has also seen the convergence of various schemes such as the Untied Fund of the District Administration and MLALAD fund. Informing about the project, NERCORMP Project Director Ruzing Bellai said it is one of best examples of convergence and judicious utilisation of funds and community participation. The entire asset has been completed with a total outlay of Rs. 50,42,691 only, he added while appealing the villagers to be part of the Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) which are being promoted by the project for processing and allied units. He also suggested the state’s policy makers to include millet varieties as nutri-cereal components under the Public Distribution System for preserving the indigenous food system.
Adviser, Disaster Management-cum MLA of 59-Longding-Pumao AC Tanpho Wangnaw, Deputy Commissioner, Bani Lego, SP Vikram Harimohan Meena, communities and NERCORMP officials attended the event. The MLA and DC while appreciating the developmental efforts assured to provide additional funding for further improvement of the CFC and requested the NERCORMP officials to seek further financial assistance from the NEC to augment the developmental initiatives in Longding district.
