BASAR, Dec 10: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inaugurated the new Lepa Rada district, which is the 24th district of Arunachal carved out from four circles of Tirbin, Dari, Sago and Basar of Lower Siang district with its headquarters at Basar. 
He also unveiled the vision statement of the new district wherein it promises to make Lepa Rada a model district where rule of law, discipline, equality, brotherhood, peace, social harmony, progress and prosperity shall be the guiding principles. 
Later at Todak Basar Memorial stadium where a public function to celebrate the occasion was held, Khandu unveiled the bust of late Todak Basar and also laid the foundation stone for Karko heritage cum museum building. He further inaugurated the 4km PMGSY road from Basar to Lape executed by RWD department. 
MoS Home Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the 15m RCC slab bridge over Sie River. DCM Chowna Mein inaugurated the office of the Executive Engineer, Highway. Chief Minister later flagged off two ambulances on the occasion. 
Congratulating the people on the occasion, Chief Minister said the dreams that were sown ten years back has finally been fulfilled. He said it was on this day in 2008 that former CM late Dorjee Khandu had promised to fulfill the wishes of Lepa Rada citizens. The CM also read out the vision statement and urged the people to stand by it. He said the zeal and enthusiasm to make Lepa Rada a model district is already visible and hoped that in days to come the mission will be fulfilled. 
He promised that for creation of infrastructure for development of new district headquarters, funds provision will be placed in the coming budget session. He also assured that for immediate functioning of the new headquarters whatever initial funding is required will be fulfilled. 
He appreciated the local NGO, the GRK - Gumin Rego Kilaju for its commendable work in preservation of natural ecosystem of the Basar area and working for sustainable development. 
He said the government is working to improve connectivity in the Basar and Aalo area to exploit the huge potential it offers in horticulture and agriculture. He said survey is already on for railway connectivity to Aalo. On air connectivity, Chief Minister said due to technical reasons Aalo ALG is unable to land fixed wing aircrafts. He therefore said that a new land will be identified for construction of a new airport wherever feasible in nearby area.
Earlier Chief Secretary Satya Gopal handed over notification of new district creation and flag to the Lepa Rada Deputy Commissioner Duly Kamduk. DGP SBK Singh handed over the ceremonial flag to the new Lepa Rada SP. 
On the occasion Kiren Rijiju, DCM, State BJP President Tapir Gao and local MLA Gojen Gadi also spoke.
