ITANAGAR, Feb 26: Union Minister of State Meenakashi Lekhi visited Kurung Kumey District in order to review the implementation of central government schemes like last mile connectivity, Har Ghar Jal, Ujjwala Yojana, etc.
She received a warm welcome by the district officials, Deputy Commissioner, MLA and BJP Karyakartas upon her arrival at Koloriang, the district headquarters of Kurung Kumey District. She interacted with the local Nyishi tribe, where the locals showcased their culture and adorned her with the local attire.
Lekhi visited the District Hospital and the Primary School of the area and reviewed the progress. She also visited the PSA Oxygen Plant installed under the PM CARES Scheme during COVID-19. Lekhi insisted upon banning of single use plastic and urged the locals to use their indigenous methods of making bio degradable disposable cutlery. She also suggested installation of Plastic Crushing Machine at the District Primary school. She directed the district officials to chart out a method of waste disposal system so that  the beauty if the area is intact.
She also visited Ziro and Malinithan during her visit to Arunachal Pradesh.
During her visit to Lower Siang district, she visited Malinithan an archaeological site and interacted with the local community. She also visited Akashi Ganga a religious site walking down some 700 steps to reach the holy Kund.
Lekhi was on a tour of four districts-- Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri , Papum Pare and Lower Siang to review the flagship projects of the central government amongst others.
