Jairampur, Oct 15: A one day legal awareness program with the theme know your rights & fight for your rights was conducted by HOPE Foundation Jairampur in collaboration with the Changlang District Administration under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women here at Jairampur which saw huge response.
Attending the program as chief guest, Nabam  Yahi Tad, Vice Chairperson APSCW in her address exhorted the Tangsa Welfare Society (women ) to be an example of unity not  only in Changlang district but the entire state.  
"It is a very positive aspect that there are very few cases of polygamy in the district & I congratulate the Tangsa society for it," she said. Expressing concern  on the menace of drug abuse which is rapidly jeopardizing the future of the youth, she called upon  the senior  citizens, intellectuals and women organisations to work on  mission mode and save the youths.
Speaking on the safety of children, she said that young girls are lured on the pretext of jobs outside the state and get trafficked.
"Development comes with a price tag.Take care of things so that your child is not victimised.It is very saddening to know that our young girls are lured for jobs outside and get trafficked.So I request  you all to kindly keep a record of our children and youths in each village. Adopt the  legal provisions, inspite of trying for amicable settlement outside court.Unless criminals are not given exemplary punishment,crimes will keep rising," Nabam said.
The APSCW chairperson also stressed on financial empowerment of women. She suggested women to adopt entrepreneurship by taking up skill development and grow cash crops to boost the rural  economy.
Special Guest of the program, K.Tikhak ADC Jairampur also called attention to  incidences of  fake companies recruiting local youths through internet and highlighted the possibility of human trafficking. He advised that girls must be courageous enough to say no to cyber bullying and take aid of all prescribed legal provisions in place.
