Yingkiong, Jan 30: A Legal Aid Clinic was inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLA), Member Secretary, Yomge Ado at Police Station, Yingkiong in presence of Deputy Commissioner Upper Siang, Talo Jerang and SP Token Saring, on Thursday.
The Legal Aid Clinic will provide free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of society to ensure that opportunity for securing justice is not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities. A team of Para Legal Volunteers will  provide free legal aid counsels, free legal advice, counselling and preparation of legal documents etc.
The event was followed by a  legal Awareness programme  which was conducted by APSLSA in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Upper Siang at Multipurpose hall, Yingkiong.
 Member Secretary APSLSA Yomge Ado while addressing the participants highlighted the role and functions of Legal Aid Clinic and Para Legal Volunteers. Emphasizing on the importance of Legal Aid Clinics, he said ‘as per government policy it is mandatory to open legal aid clinic in every Police Station to provide free  legal services to poor and marginalised people and there is need to organise more  legal awareness and legal literacy programme throughout the district to  educate  the masses about their  legal rights  and to avail the facilities of legal aid clinics.’ He also urged all stakeholders to work together to make it successful so that poor and vulnerable sections of society gets the benefits. 
Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang who also spoke on the occasion thanked APSLSA for taking the initiative adding that this will go a long way in providing much needed free legal services to the poor and weaker sections of society. 
Superintendent of Police Token Saring also spoke and assured that the Police Department will work in close coordination to deliver justice to needy people.
