Roing, Mar 22: The 5th Poshan Pakhwada with the theme “Nutrition for all: Together Towards a healthy India” was launched today at Roing, Lower Dibang Valley. 155 SHG members and anganwadi workers participated in the programme by putting up an exhibition displaying various dishes made from locally available millets, home grown fruits and vegetables.
ADC Mamta Yadav advised Anganwadi workers to focus on the importance of nutrition in pregnant women. She also spoke on the need to include locally available millets in nutritional meals provided to children in Anganwadi centres in the district.
DD (ICDS) G. A. Perying spoke about the aim of celebrating Poshan Pakhwada which focuses on raising awareness about the importance of nutrition and promote healthy eating habits through Jan aandolan. She added that this year the poshan Pakhwada focus on three main themes of promotion and popularisation of Shree Anna/ Millets for nutritional well being, celebration of Swast Balak sampradha and popularise Saksham Anganwadi.
Dr. O. Perme spoke on nutritional value of Millets and how it is beneficial for our health.
DAO spoke on the importance of millets as agricultural crop. Different schemes relating to millets and the role of department in introducing millets across the district were also highlighted.
BMM (ArSRLM) spoke on the importance of convergence and working together as a team for the upcoming events.
A 15 day long poshan pakhwada celebration program calendar was launched.
