NEW DELHI, May  8: A lawyers group today failed to get an urgent listing of a plea in the Delhi High Court seeking direction to the CBI to lodge an FIR on the allegations made in a purported suicide note of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul.

The petition filed on March 24 has not yet been listed for hearing, which prompted these lawyers to make a mention of it before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Anu Malhotra.

The lawyers under the banner of National Lawyers Campaign for Judicial Transparency and Reforms, which has filed the petition, complained that despite an assurance by the registry, it has not been listed today.

The bench asked the counsel whether they have spoken to the Registrar General(listing) to list their petition.

"Follow the procedure. Go to the Registrar General (listing). If he does not list it, then come to me," the bench said.

Pul had committed suicide on August 9 last year. His body was found hanging in the official residence of the Chief Minister at Itanagar.

After months of intense political developments, Pul had taken over the reins of Arunachal Pradesh on February 19, 2016 for a brief period but had to relinquish the job following a Supreme Court order in July 2016.

The plea has sought lodging of the FIR and a "cautious and discreet" probe against some former and serving persons holding constitutional posts, as also against some politicians, purportedly contained in Puls suicide note. PTI
