LONGDING, Aug 11:  A day after the failed attempt by the NSCN-K(YA) insurgents to infiltrate from BP-157-158 and fire at the Assam Rifles post at Kunsa, the infuriated villagers of Kunsa village staged a massive protest on Thursday.
Holding placards, villagers condemned  the firing incident and raised slogans for the need for peace in the area. As a mark of protest the participants also burnt the effigy of Self Styled Major General Payong Konyak of NSCN- K (YA) blaming him for the incident.
Women and children came out in strength and unanimously voiced their protest against the insurgent's nefarious activities and expressed solidarity with the security forces.
Of late a surge has been observed in protest by villagers of Longding and Tirap district against the atrocities of the insurgent groups and registering an overwhelming desire for peace.
