Itanagar, Jan 11: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar speaking at a review meeting of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM) asked the agency to think out of the box in order to uplift the livelihoods of the people of the State in a true sense.
There are various activities which are being undertaken and planned by the ArSRLM for sustainable income. Promotion of Honey Clusters, value added services of agri-horti products like value addition, packaging and branding etc. In order to achieve the objective of the ArSRLM which is to reduce poverty by enabling the poor households to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities, resulting in appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, through building grassroots institutions of the poor, the Chief Secretary advised to choose the activities as per the relevance of that area.
The ArSRLM has set a target to help form 6000 SHGs by 31st March 2022. The Chief Secretary desired that ArSRLM should play the role of a facilitator and promoter, create a supportive environment for the growth and development of the SHGs in the State.  Monitoring of the SHGs was one of the main aspects the Chief Secretary emphasised on. The direction was given to ensure that the Government schemes for the economic empowerment of the weaker and marginalised groups reaches the actual beneficiaries.

He further asked them to work in a mission mode to uplift the economically marginalised household from the threshold of poverty.
In the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary various activities being implemented and undertaken by the ArSRLM  were discussed and reviewed in the meeting.
Commissioner Planning PS Lokhande, Secretary RD & PRI A. R. Talwade, CEO -cum-SMD ArSRLM Solung Miji and others were present in the meeting.
