ITANAGAR, Sep 2: Kipa Ajay, Honorary Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association has been elected to the post of Treasurer of All India Football Federation (AIFF) by defeating Gopalakrishna Kosaraju, President of Andhra Pradesh Football Association with a huge margin of 32-1 votes in Election of the Executive Committee of Federation held today at New Delhi. Meanwhile, Kalyan Chaubey has become the new President of AIFF by defeating his rival for the post, Baichung Bhutia. N.A Haris was also elected as  Vice President.
Kipa , who was also elected unopposed as Honorary Secretary of APFA for the second term earlier this year, had filed his nomination for post of Treasurer in the apex footballing body of the country amid the hustle and bustle of FIFA ban and other issues pertaining to the future of AIFF taking place for last few days. He along with his incumbent Executive Members were first elected to APFA in the year 2016 and has been working as Honorary Secretary towards developing Football in the state. 
Arunachal Pradesh Football Association congratulated Ajay on this historic feat for the state football. In an official statement released by State Football Association, it said “We are very happy and proud of his (Ajay’s) win in the Election of All India Football Federation as Treasurer. A historic feat for entire Northeast region. We are confident that he will work tirelessly and at his best capacity for the development of National Football as he has been doing for the state for last many years. APFA wishes best for his future endeavours as Treasurer of All India Football Federation”.
“With lifting of FIFA Ban from AIFF, we as a proud member state association, look forward to take Indian Football to new heights under the able presidency of Mr. Kalyan Chaubey and his newly elected Executives Members.” It added.
