TAWANG, Jul 29:

 

Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inaugurated the launch of the Rescue and Relief Team (RRT) of SHQ SSB, Bomdila here at the campus of 38th BN of SSB, Tawang.

 

The Chief Minister in his address to the army, paramilitary force and student members present thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and MoS Home Kiren Rijiju for launching the RRT countrywide. 

 

He said the Ministry has seriously taken the issue of the recurring disasters in the country and for the need to handle the relief and rescue operations professionally by trained personnel.

 

He lauded the services of the Army and paramilitary forces in any calamities. He particularly thanked the NDRF personnel who had worked 24 hours in rescue operation in the recent Laptap incident that claimed 14 lives.

 

The Chief Minister appreciated the SSB for its service not only in border guarding duties, but also contributing in local developmental and welfare activities. The effect of which can be seen in Tawang, where SSB and local people share special bond, which has grown out of very old relation, he added.

 

The Chief Minister assured that as long as he is the CM, the Army and Paramilitary forces will always find support from the state government.

 

Earlier, the CM was accorded guard of honour, followed by display of latest equipment for relief and rescue operation. DIG, SHQ, Bomdila, Sudhir Kumar delivered the welcome address.

 

This was followed by demonstration of relief and rescue operation by RRT team and members from NIMAS, Dirang. Earlier the fire personnel of the state fire services displayed fire fighting demonstration. 

 

DIG Frontier HQ, Tezpur, Sonam Yudron also spoke on the occasion where she called on the SSB to play greater role in development of the state.

 

The inaugural ceremony concluded with a tree plantation programme inside the SSB campus.

 

Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi, Tawang Zilla Parishad Chairperson Jambey Tsering, Tawang DC Dr Sonal Swaroop, Commander 190 Mountain Brigage MP Singh and others attended the  programme.
