ITANAGAR, Sep 1: Indra Mallo, Joint Secretary Women and Child Development, Govt. of India today visited the Oju Welfare Association accompanied by top officials of the state WCD department including Mimum Tayeng, Secretary WCD, T P Loyi, Director WCD among others.
Mallo visited OWA run various centre’s, viz. Child Care Institution (CCI), Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), Shakti Sadan, WHL, LAC, Tailoring and production unit, OJU Craft Centre run under one roof. She also interacted with the children of CCI and women sheltered at Shakti Sadan.
She also interacted with the students of Department of Social Work, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), who are pursuing internship at OWA, and asked them to get acquainted with several Acts enacted for children, and work with dedication and commitment.
The Joint Secretary suggested to provide compensation available under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, to children rescued from child labour and also suggested to feed data of children in CCI to the Mission Vatsalya portal.
