ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Claiming government indifference in addressing their two-point demand, Itanagar Traffic wardens (ITW) resorted to an indefinite peaceful sit-in protest at the Tennis Court on Monday.
ITW has been demanding the state government to regularize the ITW under Home department and full-fledged introduction of ITW in Traffic Cell, Itanagar.
Speaking to reporters, one ITW Lomra Tapa said the state government has been repeatedly ignoring the genuine demands of the traffic wardens. He also said the dharna will go long till their demands are not met.
He said that there are around 158 ITWs waiting for the positive response from the home department in specific. Positive response towards the demand of ITW will be blessings towards the families of traffic wardens and a secure job for all, he added.
He said that the second demand for the regularization of ITWs under the Home Department is a continuation of a cabinet note made on March 13, 2015 by the then Principal Secretary, Home Department.
Earlier in a press briefing, Home Minister Bamang Felix had assured to observe and study the grievances of the ITWs and accordingly resolve the matter.
