ITANAGAR, May 16:

In order to make the state capital Open Defecation Free (ODF) a meeting was convened under the chairmanship of DC Capital Complex Prince Dhawan today to review its implementation under Itanagar.

The DC asked the Itanagar Municipal Council to implement the Individual Household Latrine component of Swachh Bharat Ahbiyan at the earliest as the fund is already available with them, which is the basic requirement for declaring ODF and asked IMC to coordinate with all the stakeholders for early declaring of ODF.

 

The meeting was attended by Chief Councillor, IMC, Kipa Kaku, Deputy Chief Councillor Tarh Nachung, CMEO Habung Lampung, IMC, Municipal Executive Engineer, Tadar Tarang and representative from Department of PHE&D, Department of Urban Development and Housing, DDSE, Capital Complex.

Er. Tadar Tarang, MEE, IMC made a detailed presentation on the process for declaring a zone open defecation free and he suggested time frame for implementing the process.

              Further the progress of construction of toilets being done by PHE Department was also reviewed. Moreover, the DDSE, ICC was also directed to submit status reports of availability of toilets in schools in capital complex and the construction thereof  to be undertaken from departmental  funds submitted by DC united Fund.

              It was decided that over a period of next 2 months, the District Administration in collaboration with IMC and Councillors shall conduct a massive campaign to declare Itanagar Open Defecation Free (ODF). The Campaign shall start with flagging off of ODF Vahan on May 22 next.
