ITANAGAR, Feb 19: In response to multiple complaints from the public, the Itanagar Police launched a series of raids against illegal gambling activities at Nyokum grounds and other locations, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals.
A special police team, led by Inspector Khiksi Yangfo (OC PS Itanagar) and Inspector Takhe Tasso (2nd OC Itanagar), along with SI Inya Tato, ASI M. Kamgo, CT Nabam Chakum, CT Tayo Bodo, and Santosh Garam, conducted the operation under the close supervision of SDPO Itanagar, Shri Kengo Dirchi.
The first raid took place on the night of 18th February at Nyokum Lapang, Itanagar, where two individuals were apprehended with gambling materials. The following day, four more suspects were caught red-handed indulging in gambling at Ganga near Daily Market. Later in the evening, another raid at Nyokum Ground, Jollang, led to the arrest of two more individuals for organizing dice gambling.
Following the arrests, three cases have been registered at the Itanagar Police Station under the Arunachal Pradesh Gambling Prohibition Act. SP Itanagar, Rajbir Singh (IPS), commended the efforts of the police team and reaffirmed the commitment of the Itanagar Capital Police to maintain law and order while cracking down on illegal activities.
