ITANAGAR, Apr 14: Fire and Emergency Service observed Fire Safety Week under the theme --Awareness in fire safety for the growth of national infrastructure-- at Itanagar Fire Station on Friday, with top officials of the police department and Fire & Emergency Services in attendance.
During the daylong programme demonstration on extinguishing fire using various types of equipment was held.
Speaking to the media, Assistant Director Fire & Emergency Service, S. Chakraborty informed that Fire Service Week will be observed in different places and during the weeklong celebration various awareness programmes will be organized.
He revealed that Fire Services lack manpower due to which they have to face many problems during emergency calls. "We have required equipment and vehicles but lack the manpower," he added while hoping for more recruitment by the government to fill the gaps.
He further appealed to the denizens to support the Fire service department during an emergency by clearing the way for movement of fire tenders, and by avoiding haphazard parking etc.
