ITANAGAR, Mar 18:

Alleging irregularities in distribution of PDS items by fair price shop which is pending since last 9 months against genuine beneficiaries at Mengio Circle, the All Mengio Youth Association has demanded action against the PDS suppliers and immediate release of pending items to the villagers.

Addressing a press conference this afternoon at Press Club, President, AMYA, Gijamar Gunia has alleged involvement of District Food & Civil Supply Officer, Yupia with the PDS suppliers in corruption activities and furnishing wrong and fabricated information to the Chief Secretary, when earlier sought by the union about the information on status of distribution of PDS items in the area.

Also demanding ouster of Block Development Officer cum Circle Officer of Mengio Circle for neglecting his duties towards the development of circle headquarters, Gunia said “Gross irregularities in performing his duties has paved the way for similar behaviour by other officials also and bad implementation of various government schemes in the area.”

Informing about the misuse of funds sanctioned against the area for construction of footpath and small suspension bridge under “My Village and My development plan scheme”, Gunia said that the concern officer is issuing completion certificate without making any kind of physical spot verification.

 “The officer is not cooperating with the public in the crusade against overall development of area and has failed to address the grievances of area in development prospects,” added Gunia while demanding Chief Secretary to initiate action against the officer.

 Also alleging the concern authority for illegally deducting 2 days wages of Job Card holders of MGNREGA without any valid reason and non- issuance of Job card being provide under the scheme to rightful beneficiaries despite public outcry, he charged upon the authority for doing it intentionally for self benefit and sought intervention of Deputy Commissioner, Yupia  in providing the job card to rightful beneficiaries
