DOIMUKH, Nov 12: In a sensational incident, an IRBN personnel was allegedly shot dead by his colleague following a heated argument at the Rajiv Gandhi University campus in Doimukh.
As per the FIR received by the Doimukh Police station, one  Wangru Taidong of 2nd IRBn, Diyun deployed at the university campus on law and order duty fired two rounds at his colleague Chingri Mamai  with his service AK rifle after an argument on the night of November 11. The injured person was immediately evacuated to TRIHMS,Naharlagun wherein he was declared brought dead by doctors.
Speaking to the media, Officer Incharge Doimukh Police station, Inya Ete informed that they received the information around 9 pm on Friday. "During the preliminary inquiry we found that there was no any argument between the two but we are still investigating the reason behind the firing of two rounds of bullets by the accused Taidong," he said.
Both the jawans are from 2nd IRBN- Diyun and were on security duty at RGU and were about to be released from their duties today (Saturday). Accused has been arrested, and he also disclosed that there was no any argument before the incident. We have seized the arms along with empty cartridges from the accused, added the OC while informing that postmortem has been done and body handed over to the family members after due formalities.
A case under section 302 of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
