DOIMUKH, Oct 12: As a part of Gandhi Jayanti Pakhwada celebrations being organized by the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD)’s North East Regional Centre situated in Rajiv Gandhi University’s Rono Hills Campus, an intra-school level patriotic song singing and elocution competitions with Mahatma Gandhi as the theme were held on October 3 last at Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh in Papum Pare district. 
The students enthusiastically took part in the competitions. In singing competition the first Prize was bagged by Yami Leriak of Class XI, while the 2nd Prize and 3rd prize went to Jipan Bulo and Toku Nejar of Class IX respectively. In the Elocution Competition, a class XII Science student Lokam Opra bagged the first Prize while the 2nd Prize and 3rd Prize went to Techi Chada and Likha Yeyer of the same class. 
Dr. David Pertin, Joint Registrar (Acad. & Conference), Rajiv Gandhi University who attended the prize distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest today at Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh encouraged the students to imbibe and inculcate Ahimsa-the non violence ideals of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi by disciplining oneself in every walk of life and further advocated that, discipline is the refining fire through which a person’s talent becomes ability. Among others, Dr. Kottu Sekhar, the Coordinator Head of RGNIYD, NER Centre, RGU, Mokir Kamki, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh, Aisena Tang,Vice Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh, and K. K. Ngiimei, the Training Associate of RGNIYD, NER Centre, RGU also spoke.
