TEZU, May 25:Tax and Excise department in coordination with the District Administration organized one day awareness cum interactive programme on GST and Excise matter for the business community of the district here today.

Highlighting the importance of GST, the DC said that implementation of GST will not only streamline the tax administration but also improve revenue efficiency and control leakages. He further added that no stones will be left unturned by the District Administration to implement GST successfully in the district, for which cooperation of the business community is very essential.

A detailed power point presentation on GST was given by Oli Koyu, Supt. Tax and Excise. Speaking on the importance of tax registration, he said that tax and revenue are the backbone of the government and therefore he urged all the participants to refrain from tax evasion. Stressing on three important points i.e. registration, return and payment, he explained in detail the salient feature of the bill and a mock practice of GST registration was also done. (DIPRO)
