PASIGHAT, Feb 23: Spearhead Division under aegis of Spear Corps today celebrated the closing ceremony of Army Adventure Challenge Cup (AACC) 2022-23 at the Rayang Military station auditorium. The event started on February 14 last at Yingkiong and concluded on February 19 last at Pasighat.
Altogether thirteen teams including teams of all Commands of Army, ITBP and Coastguard participated. The event consisted of 15 kms of cycling, 10 km of running and 19 km of whitewater rafting in the Siang.  For the first time, rock climbing was introduced and the event became a Quadrathlon from a Triathlon.  Eastern Command emerged as champion while the Western Command was adjudged as runners up. According to Army sources, the AACC is one of the signature events of Indian Army and conducted bi-annually. The Challenge Cup pushes sportsmen to their limits by testing their endurance, spirit and perseverance in difficult terrain of Arunachal Pradesh.
Gracing the closing ceremony today as Chief Guest, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 56-Infantry Division, Likhabali, Major General VK Purohit, YSM, SM, witnessed the scintillating display and cultural performances along with about two hundred service personnel and more than fifty civilians including children of local government schools and cadets of Niglok Sainik School.
The GOC while addressing the school children and participants emphasized the importance of fitness and sportsmanship in life.  He appreciated the cultural performances and also commended the effort of locals and highlighted the Civil-Military synergy in building an ideal society. Conduct of Army Adventure Challenge Cup not only spreads awareness about physical fitness but also highlights the immense potential for adventure tourism of Arunachal Pradesh, stated the GOC adding that the event would go a long way in further strengthening the existing relations between local populace and the Army.
