PASIGHAT, Jul 30: First ever Independence Day, inter village level football tournament began today at Doying Gumin College Ground Pasighat. The tourney is being organized by Talit Siram in collaboration with Doying Gumin College, Pasighat with the theme “Say No To Drugs.” Ten teams from East Siang district are participating in the tournament, representing their villages. The winner and runner up will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 100000 and Rs 40000 respectively in addition to other prizes in different excellent performance. The opening match was played today between Mongku Football team and Kiyit Football team in which Kiyit won the match with 3-1.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Er. Oki Dai, President, ABKYW encouraged the players for fair play and highlighted the motto of the organizing committee. Dai also pledged unwavering support to sports-persons across various fields, emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent and promoting healthy sports culture.
Guest of Honour, Enuk Libang, Education Secretary, ABK (APEX) also encouraged the players. He advised the participating teams to embrace modern football techniques, experiment and to adopt a possession-based playing style.
Among other prominent personalities, Dr. Yater Ringu Darang, Medical Supdt. BPGH, Pasighat and soccer lovers witnessed the opening match.
