ITANAGAR, Aug 30: Due to unfavorable weather conditions the helicopters deployed for the Search & Rescue operation of Everester Tapi Mra and his assistant Naku Dao could not take off today, informed Deputy Commissioner, East Kameng, Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla.
 As soon as we got information about the missing report, we sought help from the Indian Army based at Tezpur and responding to the request the Indian Army decided to make an aerial recce from 4:30 am today, but due to inclement weather, they could not proceed. However, they are on alert from three locations-- Tezpur, Chayangtajo and Seppa so that as soon as weather would clear they will carry the operation.
An expert ground team including Everester Tagit Sorang, Tame  Bagang and others as well as special team from the Indian Army will also move from the ground for the rescue operation. The area is located at an 4500 meter altitude and needs at least seven days of foot march to reach the base camp from the last village, added the DC.
Earlier, Minister Sports & Youth Affairs, Mama Natung informed that since Monday night it has been raining in the upper region of East Kameng district. We are on standby and accessing the weather. Foot search operation can be the other option & other mountaineers who accompanied Mra in his last expedition also reached Seppa,"  Natung said.
 He also added that all possible efforts are being pressed for the search and rescue operation of Everester Tapi Mra and his assistant. Mra has already reached that area in 2021 but couldn’t scale the  mountain, so probably it was his desire to scale Mount Kyarisatam this time, one of the highest peaks of Arunachal Pradesh.
