ITANAGAR, Mar 21:  Four minors, aged between 10-12 years were apprehended in broad daylight by the volunteers of Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) while trying to snatch cell phones from a mobile retailer at Ganga today. However, two other minors believed to be the ring leaders managed to escape. At least Rs 53,000 cash was also found from their possession.

Meanwhile, IMWA handed over the cash and minors to the police for further formalities under Juvenile Act.

Expressing concern over the incident, President IMWA Yumlam Achung disclosed that such incidents are growing and signals a bad trend for society.

‘It is very saddening to see that   juveniles are nowadays indulging in such act. We appeal the parents and guardians to take proper care of their wards and be vigilant on their whereabouts,’ he said while exhorting parents to guide their wards so that they do not indulge in any anti-social activities that might hamper their future.

The market president also appealed the Minister for Home, Kumar Waii to take initiative for establishment of a Juvenile Home in Itanagar for rehabilitation of wayward minors.

‘Due to non availability of Juvenile Home, authority is also bound to release the minors and being let-off easily may encourage the minors to commit bigger crimes,’ he opined.
