ITANAGAR, Apr 8: Itanagar Municipal Corporation today convened a meeting of its 1st Special General Function Committee chaired by mayor Tame Phassang here at a private hotel.
The agenda of the meeting was to finalize the proposal for construction of the Solid Waste Treatment Plant at Karsingsa which has been a long-felt demand of the denizens. The plant will process the waste generated from Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa townships. Members of the Standing Committee, corporators, IMC Commissioner, consultant Shyamal Chatterjee and representatives from the Department of Town Planning & ULBs and ICR District Administration attended the meeting. While stating that an ever-growing population of the state capital has led to a huge increase in waste generation accentuating the need for a dedicated waste processing plant, the mayor asked the consultant to explain the technical aspects in detail so that the corporators and IMC officers get a clear picture ahead of its implementation. He also asked the corporators and officials to get their queries cleared and place suggestions, if any.
The consultant gave a detailed PowerPoint Presentation on the methodologies and machineries that will be installed and other technical aspects. It was decided that the proposal will be placed in the next business meeting of the IMC before forwarding it to the state government for final approval. DIPRO
