KARNAL, Sep 2: Mayor Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Tamme Phassang is taking part in the 53rd Annual General Meeting of the All India Council of Mayors, which began today in Karnal, Haryana, and will conclude on September 3.
The prestigious two-day conference, inaugurated by Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, has brought together over 70 municipal leaders from 21 states to deliberate on strategies for urban transformation and to strengthen municipal governance across the country.
Mayor Phassang is scheduled to present Itanagar’s journey highlighting IMC’s achievements in infrastructure development, sustainable urban practices, and citizen-centric initiatives. His presentation will underline the corporation’s vision of creating a cleaner, greener, and more inclusive capital city for Arunachal Pradesh.
The AGM is serving as a key platform for mayors to exchange experiences, debate future urban development blueprints, and explore collaborative solutions to common challenges of rapid urbanization, climate resilience, and effective governance.
As part of the programme, participating mayors will also visit Kurukshetra’s iconic cultural and educational landmarks such as the Brahma Sarovar and Jyotisar, gaining insights into the balance between heritage preservation and modern urban development.
