ITANAGAR, Jul 26: Two pickup trucks fully laden with illegal timber were intercepted by the Mobile Squad Western Arunachal Circle (WAC) at Mani village near Midpu during night patrolling duty on the Hoj-Doimukh route on July 25. The illegal timber sourced from Sagalee were heading towards Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).
The Mobile Squad team comprised of Spl Fr. Nending Uja, F/Gd Tatum Siyum and F/Gd Pawan Bharati. The offenders involved, illegal timber and vehicles were handed over to Doimukh RFO Taje Dupit for case investigation and further proceedings. U/s 40 of the Assam Forest Regulation, 1891 (Amendment) Act, 2005 transit of any timber/forest produce is regulated with mandatory transit pass for any timber/forest produce from verified permissible source only. Further checking on illegal timber supply to the Itanagar Capital Region on identified routes is being monitored by the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) WAC Office.
