ITANAGAR, Nov 4: The District & Session Court, Yupia has granted bail to IAS officer  Talo Potom in connection with the alleged abetment of the suicide of 19-year-old contractual employee Gomchu Yekar, whose death had sparked widespread concern. The court approved Potom’s release on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh.
Potom had surrendered before the police on October 27, days after a lookout notice was issued against him. Since then, he had been in judicial custody pending investigation.
The case traces back to the tragic death of Gomchu Yekar, a young Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) worker, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances. Investigators recovered a note from the scene that allegedly accused Talo Potom and Engineer Likwang Lowang of harassment.
In a shocking turn of events, Lowang was later discovered dead at his residence in Khonsa, in what police have described as an apparent suicide.
Police officials confirmed that the investigation remains active, with efforts underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding both deaths. Authorities have assured that all aspects of the case are being examined thoroughly and objectively.
