DOLLUNGMUKH, May 27: An unexploded live bomb was discovered in Rigyu village near Kherbari under Dollungmukh subdivision, as reported by the Officer-in-Charge of the local police station. Following the report, the Indian Air Force from the DM Range Dollungmukh has initiated the process of diffusing the bomb.
In light of the serious threat to public safety, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Dollungmukh, Nabam Tarang, APCS, who is also the Executive Magistrate, has issued an order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973. The order prohibits all forms of public movement and activities in and around the area of the bomb site starting from May 26, until the bomb is safely diffused.
The entire vicinity of the bomb location has been cordoned off, with restrictions in place within a 500-metre radius and further extended to 2000 metres in protective zones. Residents are strictly advised not to enter the area. Grazing of domestic animals, fresh cultivation, movement of both public and private vehicles, and any construction activities in the area have been temporarily suspended.
The OC of the Dollungmukh Police Station, along with PRI members and village headmen (HGBs/GBs), has been directed to ensure wide public awareness about the restricted zone and to enforce the cordon for the safety of all. The administration has appealed to the public to fully cooperate and keep both people and livestock away from the area until the bomb is safely defused.
