ZIRO, Mar 16: A workshop on Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) was organized by the Department of Tax and Excise, Lower Subansiri at DC Conference hall, Hapoli today.

Chairing the meeting, ADC Nending Chatung while lauding the efforts of the Tax and Excise department in sensitizing the officials on TDS, exhorted the HoDs present to use the opportunity to be well versed in accounts and tax deduction methods to later guide their subordinates.

Supdt. Tax and Excise Punyo Yaje presented a PowerPoint on TDS. He dealt in length about the responsibilities and liabilities of the DDOs, methods of calculation of taxable turnover, various forms in TDS and the percentage of works contracts etc. Emphasizing on the need to generate TAN (Tax Deduction account numbers) by all the DDOs, he also informed them the entire process of tax payment would be online to facilitate introduction of GST.

The meeting was also attended by ADC Yachuli AC Boruah, HoDs, accountants and staffers from various departments.
