TEZU, Jun 2:In a revelation which not only highlights the thriving illegal flesh trade but also raises serious health risks, an HIV positive woman engaged in prostitution for the past many years has been traced out by the All Mishmi Women Welfare Society (MWWS).
The woman in her 30s, a mother of two hails from Dayun in Changlang district and is undergoing treatment simultaneously.
We caught her red handed with other two associates who are also operating an illegal wine bar in the Kichad Line of the town, GS AMWWS Sibali Tayang said.
Further, the Society while expressing concern that unsuspecting clients may have gotten affected in the process, has urged individuals to get themselves tested immediately to stop the disease from further spreading.
The AMWWS also told the woman to immediately leave the place or else legal action will be initiated to protect the image of Lohit district which has the 2nd largest HIV positive cases in the state next to Itanagar – Naharlagun.
The incident came to light when the team was on a routine round to check illegal sale of both local and Indian Made Foreign Liquor.
