NAMSAI, May 22: National Highway-52 has been blocked for at least 6 hours by the people of Lekang constituency near Dirak Check gate, Namsai in protest against the intensified ILP checking by administration and few student organizations in various places of Namsai district.

Speaking to media, a protester opined that administration and Students organization are humiliating the people of Lekang in the name of ILP checking. ‘We are living in Lekang constituency since time immemorial and never obtained ILP,’ he added while claiming that they have equal rights to live in Lekang constituency. He further added that people of Lekang are staying in villages which are registered in Arunachal Government record and all the people have Voting rights and other government documents.

Receiving report of the blockade, EAC Mahadevpur S Roy rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

Deputy Commissioner Namsai RK Sharma also reached the spot and assured the agitators to look into their grievances.

Meanwhile, on getting assurance from the District Administration agitators withdrew their protest and cleared the National Highway.
