ITANAGAR, Aug 31:Close at the heels of the Chief Minister’s assurance to make Lower Siang district functional at the earliest possible, the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) has appealed members of its community to suspend the ongoing non-cooperation ‘Taala Bandi’ movement till the next State Cabinet meeting.

While urging the government to hold the meeting earlier than scheduledSeptember 22, the GWS also appealed to initiate for immediate posting of DC and SP, Lower Siang District in the said Cabinet Meeting.

However, it said that in the event of non-fulfillment of the assurance given by the Chief Minister, the Galo Community shall resume its democratic movement in a larger extent with effect from September 23 next.

Already the Lower Siang District functionalization has been delayed despite having every genuine ground and the fact that it has already been notified in Arunachal Gazette Notification on 3rdMarch 2014. Therefore, any further delay will be treated as alienation of the entire Galo Community, a release stated.

Further, a joint consultative meeting of all Galo MLAs, former MLAs, senior members and elders is slated for September 9 next.
