ITANAGAR, Aug 27: The Geological Survey of India (GSI), State Unit Arunachal Pradesh, in collaboration with the Department of Geology and Mining, conducted a workshop on “Mineral Potential in Arunachal Pradesh: A Way Forward” today.
The workshop was organized in line with the outcomes of the 2nd North East Mining Minister’s Conclave held in Guwahati in June this year. The event was formally inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by  Rajeeva Roy, Deputy Director General, GSI Arunachal Pradesh, and  Pee Lee Ete, IFS, DIGF (Central), Regional Office Shillong and In-charge Sub-Office Guwahati, MoEF & CC, Government of India. The ceremony was held in the presence of Suresh Chander, Director (TC), GSI Arunachal Pradesh; Parminder Singh Sethi, Director & Head of Office, GSI Arunachal Pradesh; and  Tasser Talar, Director, DGM, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
Conducted in hybrid mode from the conference hall of GSI, the workshop saw active participation from central departments, state officials, and Notified Private Exploration Agencies (NPEAs). The objective of the event was to invite stakeholders to explore and harness the mineral resources of the state.
A series of technical presentations highlighted the geology and mineral wealth of Arunachal Pradesh, the utility of the National Geodata Data Repository (NGDR) portal, facilities offered by the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET), New Delhi, and the new opportunities emerging in the mining sector. The program concluded with an open discussion session where stakeholders exchanged views and raised queries, stated a release.
