ITANAGAR, Jun 14: In a significant move aimed at ensuring peace, tranquility, and the safety of denizens, the government of Arunachal Pradesh has given the green signal for the establishment of three separate Superintendent of Police (SP) positions. The  Itanagar, Naharlagun l, and Traffic will each have their own dedicated SP, all of whom will be supervised by a DIG-ranked official for the Itanagar Capital Region. This development was confirmed by Home Minister Bamang Felix during a media interaction on Wednesday.
The move is expected to bolster the department's operational efficiency and ensure effective management of law and order in these key areas.
Highlighting the progress made in the Home Department under Chief Minister Pema Khandu's leadership over the past four years, the Home Minister emphasized the department's advancements in police modernization and infrastructure development. Acknowledging the shortage of manpower within the department, Felix assured that the government is actively addressing the issue. Initiatives are underway to recruit a minimum of 310 personnel on a short-term basis and 4,000 personnel on a long-term basis to strengthen the department.
