Old Ziro, Jul 26: In a significant move to strengthen law enforcement and public safety in the valley, the newly constructed Police Station at Old Ziro was formally inaugurated today by Home Minister Mama Natung.
Addressing the gathering, Natung, emphasised the state government’s commitment to bolstering grassroots policing ensuring faster response to citizens’ needs. He appreciated the Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) for its commitment to provide 24x7 service for the safety of the people.
He said that the Apatanis are one of the most intellectual tribes of the state, therefore, now the time has come for the people of Ziro Valley to make it crime and drug free. He has assured to fulfill all the points mentioned in the memorandum submitted within two years’ time. Regarding the pending case of construction of a fire station, he informed that the state government has already given its nod and the fund for the same has been parked. He further urged the local MLA and the Deputy Commissioner to expedite the land acquisition process so that a full-fledged fire station also comes to reality in the valley soon.
Earlier, in his welcome note, Superintendent of Police, Lower Subansiri, Keni Bagra gave a brief description of the status of law and order in the district and challenges faced by police personnel on duty. He categorically mentioned the need for Integrated Check Post, Police Out Posts in Dilopolyang and Maniipolyang and Baracks for police personnel and requested the Home Minister to look into the needs for strengthening the District Police.
Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme appreciated the Police Department and said that the Police Station is not just a building structure but a pillar of trust and safety, therefore, now the people of Old Ziro will feel safer.
Take Ringu, IGP (Western Range) applauded the people of Ziro Valley for their progressive mindset and advanced lifestyle, however he expressed his concerns on rising cases of drug abuse amongst the youth. He urged for joint and concerted efforts from all stakeholders including elders of the village and GBs towards the fight against drug abuse.
Er. Hage Appa, MLA of Ziro appreciated the continuous efforts of the State Government and the Police Department in bringing administrative services closer to the people. He congratulated the local people as their long-cherished dream of having a separate Police Station has been fulfilled.
Mutchu Mithi, MLA-cum-Advisor to Home Minister appreciated the achievements of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) under the able leadership of Mama Natung as Home Minister. He said the APP is our “Aan, Bhaan and Shaan.”
