ITANAGAR, Apr 18: Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India Durga Shankar Mishra, IAS today called on the Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) here at Raj Bhavan and discussed the progress of various central urban development projects currently under implementation in Arunachal Pradesh.
The duo discussed about the status of  smart city projects, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Housing for All (Urban)- PMAY-HFA(Urban), Swachha Bharat Mission, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), 10% lump sum grant earmarked for development of North East and several other important issues related to urban development in the state.
Governor emphasised on infrastructure creation for ensuring better civic amenities to improve the quality of life for all, especially the poor and disadvantaged. Stressing on creating opportunities for skill development for market-based employment, he also emphasised on ensuring easy access to credit to help the unemployed youth of the state to set up self-employment ventures.
Advocating the use of technology to make the indigenous house building materials like bamboo more durable, the Governor also advised the visiting officials to address the livelihood concerns of urban street vendors.
