ITANAGAR, Mar 17: Making his second visit to the under-construction Hollongi Greenfield Airport site within a span of little over two weeks, Governor (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) today reviewed its latest status.
Reassessing the work progress relating to roads, water supply, electricity etc. with the officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and state government, the Governor advised them to increase the number of machines, plants and manpower to meet the completion deadline. He reiterated that to make good the time lost due to COVID pandemic, work input must be increased ahead of the monsoon. He also suggested them to prepare an alternative plan that would use prefabricated materials in case the permanent structures take more time for completion. Explore innovative ways to ensure that the project is commissioned in time, he urged, while emphasising on expediting the tender process of pending works. The Governor also made an on-spot inspection of several key segments of the prestigious project such as runway, boundary wall, power substation site and the road connecting the airport with the National Highway. He also inspected the Kokila river diversion site and the area around the airport.

Secretary,  Civil Aviation, GoAP Swapnil Naik, General Manager, AAI Dilip M Sajnani and senior officers of the PWD, Power and PHED apprised the Governor about the updated status of works. It can be recalled that he had earlier visited the site on March 1. PRO Raj Bhavan
