TAWANG, Jul 29: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), who is on a three-day tour to Tawang District chaired a review meeting of the Central and State Governments’ sponsored schemes, projects and programmes at Tawang on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor advised the District Heads of Department to focus on infrastructure, health, education and tourism in the district. He said that to lay a strong foundation for the local population to be ‘Atma Nirbhar’, we have to ensure these sectors are given utmost importance.
Considering the large tourist destinations in Tawang district, the Governor suggested the officials should prepare tourist circuits in the district. He said that the inflow of tourists must match with development of proper infrastructure and preservation of tourist places in their natural form. Tawang has the potential to create world class tourist destinations, he said.
The Governor, while stressing on expediting developmental works on Vibrant Village Programme, exhorted the officials to reach out to the people in remote border areas and address their needs. He desired that heads of department and their officials should spend a day at the Vibrant Village in a month to generate confidence and transparency with the local population.
Earlier, Tawang Deputy Commissioner Kangki Darang, Superintendent of Police DW Thungon and Heads of Department gave a detailed presentation to the Governor about the central government and state government projects and programmes, which are being implemented in the district and also stages of progress of works.
