ITANAGAR, Mar 21: Governor PB Acharya has condoled the tragic demise of Maria Dimitrovaour, a Bulgarian national near Sela Pass in Tawang District.

The Bulgarian national slipped and fell into a steep gorge while she was trying to move on her own. Her body was recovered at around midnight. On Saturday, five foreigners including 127 other tourists, were rescued by the army after they were stuck in a raging snowstorm at the historic Sela Pass.

Pained by the heartbreaking accident, the Governor said that each and every tourist coming to the State is an ambassador of peace and progressing Arunachal Pradesh and Tourism Arunachal. Therefore, demise of a tourist is not only a tragic loss to the bereaved family but also to the people of the State.

I join the people of Arunachal Pradesh in conveying sincere condolence to bereaved family and offer our prayers for eternal peace of the departed soul. May Almighty God give the family and other wellwishers enough strength to bear this tragedy, the Governor said. 

The Governor has also conveyed his appreciation to the Indian Army for the rescue operation. He has asked the District Administrations of Tawang and West Kameng Districts to be on alert and develop mechanism to address such unfortunate incidents.
